Eric Devenport

The Rt Rev Eric Nash Devenport was Bishop of Dunwich from 1980 to 1992. He was born on 3 May 1926[1] and educated at the Open University and Kelham Theological College. After ordination he held curacies at St Mark, Leicester[2] and St Matthew, Barrow-in-Furness.[3] Following this he was Succentor at Leicester Cathedral, then Vicar of Shepshed and finally (before elevation to the Episcopate) Leader of Mission for the Diocese of Leicester.[4] He resigned in 1992 and became Archdeacon of Italy and Malta, a post he held for five years. In retirement he continues to serve the Church as an Assistant Bishop within the Norwich Diocese.
